Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
